Product Description

XLPE-INSULATED POWER CABLE

Cross-linked polyethylene power cable is a medium- and high-voltage power transmission cable that uses polyethylene treated by a cross-linking process as an insulation layer. Its core conductor is usually made of copper or aluminum. This cable uses chemical or physical methods to change the molecular structure of polyethylene from linear to a three-dimensional mesh, which significantly improves the heat resistance and mechanical strength of the material. It is mainly suitable for 1kV to 500kV power transmission and distribution systems.

The most prominent feature of this type of cable is its excellent heat resistance and electrical properties. Its insulation layer can remain stable under long-term operation at 90ºC and short-circuit conditions at 250ºC, and its dielectric loss is one order of magnitude lower than that of PVC cable. The cross-linked structure gives the cable excellent creep resistance and environmental stress cracking resistance, and it also has low smoke and halogen-free fireproof properties.

In the power system, cross-linked polyethylene cable has become the first choice for underground laying of urban power grids, especially for high-rise building power supply, subway tunnels, and other places with limited space. In new energy fields such as offshore wind power, its salt spray and radiation resistance meet special environmental requirements; in harsh working conditions such as chemical plants and nuclear power plants, its flame retardant and non-toxic properties significantly improve safety.
